Andalucía Acoge

Objetives and functions of the federation

The overall objective of Andalucía Acoge focuses on promoting the integration of immigrants in the society of reception, and on the promotion of interculturality, i.e. the positive relation of communication between diverse cultures that coexist in the same geographic area. Our more specific goals are to:

1.- Defend the labour, social, and other rights of immigrants.

2.- Inform, orient and guide in the insertion or re-insertion of immigrants in our society. 3.- Facilitate the access of immigrants to social, judicial, sanitary, housing, education, cultural, recreational and other services.

4.- Promote immigrant associations so that they themselves may become protagonists of their actions and interests. 5.- Inform the public of the issues of immigration and immigrants through all forms of media, thus generating solidarity.

6.- Promote the co-ordination and collaboration of the varying organisations and associations concerned with these issues.

7.- Co-ordinate all of the member associations of the Federation in activities at the regional, national and European level, as well as the sharing of information on questions of common interest.

8.- Carry out activities (approved by the general assembly of the Federation) at the national level, as well as representation and development, before the public authorities, of possible solutions to the difficulties encountered by foreign in Spain.

The functions of Andalucía Acoge are as follows:

Co-ordination of the different associations in order to optimise all undertaken actions
Common representation at the regional, national and international level
Fundraising in order to finance projects.
Training of volunteers, mediators, trainers and educators in the field of prevention in intercultural mediums.

Participation is a central part of the Federation's structure, and is guaranteed by Andalucía Acoge's democratically functioning decision-making organs, where all the member associations are represented. This organisational chart makes it possible that everybody who is part of Andalucía Acoge, has the right to speak and to vote, directly or through his/her representative, at all levels of decision-making.
